Mr Piekarski’s passion for clocks began when he left school aged 15 and trained to be a watchmaker. But it was the cuckoo clock that really spiked his interest.
Twenty years ago he and his brother Maz opened the Cuckooland Museum, in Tabley, near Knutsford, Cheshire: the world’s largest collection of cuckoo clocks.
The collection, which counts more than 600 pieces by now, comprises 300 years of cuckoo clock-making history, since the very earliest examples made in the 18th to the 21st century.
