Enclosed Content Chatting Away In The Colour Invisibility
Anouk Kruithof likes to invent new things out of fragments of the past. Her passion for books and their inevitable disappearance have moved her to think about this poetical act: a spatial installation, a video and a single photograph out of these books.
In 2008 she has been collecting these 3500 so found colored books. Most books out of this installation are from the early 20th century or have been acquired eastern european books that were written in the DDR and therefore totally dismissed, destined to end up at the recycle dump for paper, where they are rotting away and become meaningless and lost. She revitalizes these books by using them as bricks, in order to build a wall, which is strong and unstable at the same time. The colors and sizes of these books determine the rhythm of the bookwall, colored edges glow in diverse hues; the workmanship, the various papers and varying bodies contributes to achieve an heterogeneous ensemble.
On every exhibition the bookwall gets installed in a different order.
